Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response: One time when I was very stressed and held down by school work I decided to take a break from my homework and go take a walk. I walked outside for a while in the forest and while I was walking I took a minute to just embrace nature and it really helped me with the stress of my situation. The time I took allowed me to realize that school work isn't everything and I shouldn't be so stressed about it. Summary: Today we worked on our one pager on a poem. Reflection: I learned the symbolism and meaning of the poem Fire and Ice by Robert Frost.

In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt Response: A time I had to respect a boundary with a friend was with my friend Joe who has a peanut allergy. I had been bringing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to lunch for a very long time but when he started sitting with us I stopped because of his allergy. Me not eating peanuts in front of him showed that I respected his allergy and it strengthened our friendship. Summary: Today we did the CommonLit assignment analyzing a poem about a wall. Reflection: I learned about how things that happen in your life can connect you.

Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response: A time when something in my life changed very quickly was when my dog Poppy went missing and died. Poppy was very old but was relatively healthy and I had not expected her to die quite as suddenly as she did because most dogs die of old age. Unfortunately, Poppy ran off and was eventually found dead in a pond. Poppy's death was very unexpected and sad and definitely changed my life. Summary: Today we worked on analyzing poems by Robert Frost including Nothing Gold Can Stay and The Road Not Taken. Reflection: I learned how life gives you decisions and sometimes the path less traveled can be better than the more popular one.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response: My favorite word right now in our vocabulary is celibate because I think it is funny and I use it the most out of any of the words there. Summary: Today we worked on our PowerPoint presentation. Reflection: I learned how to make my PowerPoint more visually appealing.

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt Response: Imagination helps me most often when I am trying to get to sleep. I find it very relaxing to imagine different words or realities while I am sleeping and usually if I am able to truly focus on my imagination it puts me to sleep very quickly. Summary: Today we read Robert Frost's poem; "Birches" which talked about escaping adult life by revisiting your childhood. We also started our PowerPoint presentation on Birches. Reflection: I learned about different symbolism in "Birches" while annotating the poem.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt Response: I face high pressure situations every day in wrestling practice. When you wrestle you are going against someone who is trying to essentially beat you up which makes it very risky. My training and my concentration usually allows me dominate positions with some wrestlers while others have better training and end up beating me. Summary: Today we read a poem called Out Out which was about a boy who loses his hand to a saw and die. Reflection: I learned about the symbolism in Out Out

Write about what you did over the Fall Break.

Prompt Response: Over fall break I did college visits. I visited UGA, GCSU, and KSU and I really liked the Kennesaw campus and the UGA campus but I think that I will end up going to Kennesaw because I dont have enought AP's to go to UGA. Summary: Today we made a comic using our vocabulary words for this unit. Reflection: I learned how to use the vocabulary words from this unit.

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response: When I have a lot going on I still try to take small amounts of time during the day to relax. Usually, when wrestling practice ends at 9 I come home and get on a call with my friends to wind down, this requires staying up late but I still get a good amount of sleep every day. I also like taking my time walking too and from school to listen to music and relax. Finally, I take the time in between my first wrestling practice and my second to watch a show or something like that. Summary: Today we worked on our writable assignment. Reflection: I learned how to make proper arguments.

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: A time when someones words had a lasting impact on me was when my wrestling team lost the region duals and my coach talked to us afterward. My coach gave us a speech about hard work and will to win and how we could have done a lot better at the duals. This talk gave me more motivation to win and still sticks with me today. Summary: Today we looked at people in our classes evidence and claims and criticized them. Reflection: I learned how to make a proper claim and evidence.

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response: One time I stepped out of my comfort zone was when I went climbing with my friend J. My friend J was a climber but I had always been afraid of climbing and heights and he offered to take me climbing and teach me the ropes. Luckily, I overcame my fear of climbing and had a lot of fun.  Summary: Today we read a story about a soldier who killed a man in Vietnam, then we wrote about whether or not we think there is such thing as a "good kill". Reflection: I learned about what it feels like to kill someone.

Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt Response: One dream I had that felt real was when I had a dream about me and one of my friends exploring an abandoned part of Lakeside. In this dream me and my friend get caught and when we are caught I get surprised and bite off my tongue, the rest of the dream is just me running away from the teachers. Summary: Today we looked at lesson 3 vocabulary and wrote down examples, after that we did a NewsELA assignment. Reflection: I learned what different vocab words meant.

Write about something youve been curious about

Prompt Response: Something i'm curious about is how the universe works. To me the universe outside of our world just seems so insanely complicated and unfathomable. One thing that really fascinates me is the though of something being infinite because it seems impossible for the universe to end but equally as impossible for it to be infinite. Summary: Today we worked on making our thesis statement for our unpopular opinion. Reflection: I learned how to make a proper thesis.

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response: The best gift I ever received was the Lego star wars death star for Christmas when I was 7. The Lego death star was something I had always wanted but I knew it was very expensive and I never expected to get it, but one Christmas when I was 7, my mom got me the death star and I was incredibly happy, it took around 2 weeks to build and after I was done I loved it and played with it every day, Summary: Today we looked at arguments for an unpopular opinion. Reflection: I learned how to make an argumentative essay.
