Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response: I could describe my mind as an organized fortress. I would describe my mind as an organized fortress because I think I am very disciplined. I also try to be very organized with everything I do and I dont like to be random or unplanned. Summary: Today we analyzed some poems by Emily Dickinson and worked on making a heart to represent the brain vs the heart. Reflection: I learned about symbolism in Emily Dickinsons poems.

Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

Prompt Response: An adventure I would like to go on would be to climb a mountain. It has always seemed very thrilling to climb something like Mount Everest and ive never really done anything like it. I also know it can be very dangerous to climb high mountains but I dont think I would be worried. Summary: Today we watched other peoples presentations, took notes on Emily Dickenson, and read and analyzed a poem by Emily Dickinson. Reflection: Today I learned what it means to be a nobody vs being somebody.

Describe something you will never fully understand.

Prompt Response: Something I will never truly understand is the idea of infinity. I do not think I can truly comprehend something like the universe because it seems like it must be infinite because for it to end doesn't make sense. I both cannot comprehend the universe ending or it being infinite and thinking about it often confuses me. Summary: Today we presented our projects on our origin myths. Reflection: I learned how other people decided to make their origin myths and it was really interesting getting to see everyone elses creativity.

Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Prompt: Something I wish I had more of is time. All the time I feel like I don't have enough time in the day to do what I want, most of my days are packed with things I need to do and I don't have extra time. On an Ideal day I would be able to lift, run, go to school, have time for homework and studying, and go to two wrestling practices, while still having enough time for good sleep. Unfortunately the day is just not long enough to fit what I want to do in it so I have to split everything up between days. Summary: Today we worked on our origin myth poster and got to look at other peoples blog posts.  Reflection: I got to learn what other peoples burning questions were while we looked over peoples blog posts.

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work

Prompt Response: The most creative thing I have ever made was a pencil launcher that I made in 6th grade. I had a class in 6th grade that I had with some of my friends but it was very boring, the teacher would do nothing but talk and talk all day and I was bored out of my mind. One day I was really bored and I decided to mess with my friend across the room, I had an assortment of random things in my bag and I used them to make my own pencil launcher which I used on my friend. I felt that this was very creative because I did not use any instructions to make the pencil launcher, just my brain. Summary: Today we worked on our origin myth essay and our origin myth poster. Reflection: I learned what the pattern of assignments in this class are going to be; making something creative and then presenting it.

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Prompt Response: My first burning question about life is how humans came to exist. I want to know how humans came to exist because everyone has a different belief on how and I would like to know if any of them are right or if its something we cant even comprehend. My second burning question is if their is a god. I want to know if there is a god because so many cultures believe in it but many people do not and I am very curious as to if there is one. Summary: Today we worked on our project on making an origin myth. Reflection: Today I think I got better at writing stories because I thought my story was very well written.

Describe a time you felt completely lost

Prompt Response: One time I felt completely lost was in 3rd grade when my family went to a corn maze. When I was in third grade it was fall and Halloween was about to start so my family went to a pumpkin patch to get pumpkins, at the pumpkin patch there was a corn maze and I thought it would be fun to go into it, my family agreed and we went in. After about an hour me and my family were totally lost and had no idea where to go, every turn would eventually lead to a dead end and we thought we might never get out. Luckily for us, after a very long time of searching around we finally found the exit. Summary: Today we presented our project on the Native American story, The Jealous Father. After the presentations we worked on our blog post and had free time. Reflection: Today I learned a lot about the different themes and lessons from The Jealous Father .

Analyze how you've adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt Response: I think that during this week I have struggled most with trying to complete the blog posts, I am not used to having an assignement like this every single day, but I do think it will be very useful in expanding my ability to write about personal events. One thing I think I have done good with this week would be reading interpretation, everything we have read so far I have been able to understand and pay attention to well. Summary: Today we took the origin myth assessment where we read a native American origin myth and answered questions on it. We also got to work on our PowerPoint presentations. Reflection: I learned that not all origin myths are about how the world was created, some are just about specific things.

Describe a real life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt Response: My dogs get very jealous all the time. A lot of the time I will be petting one dog and not the other and the dog not getting petted will bark or paw at me until I pet them. One time I was petting my dog and my other dog came up and I didn't pet her, she got very jealous and went over to a vase on a table and knocked it over. The vase was very nice and it was very sad to lose it, but now I learned to always pet both dogs so they don't get jealous. Summary: Today we read a native American story called "the jealous father". After reading the story we got into groups and worked on our presentation for the story. Reflection: We explored the meaning of the story we read and I learned the importance of never being jealous of someone.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt Response: My family owns a farm in north Georgia. I think this farm contains many stories but one I will highlight is how we got our first dog. When I was about 5 years old me and my family were sitting on the porch at our farm when a stray dog walked up to us. We took the dog in and asked online if anyone had lost their dog but got no response. My family had become very attached to this dog by the time we had to come back down to Atlanta so we brought him with us. Eventually the owner contacted us and told us that the dog was hers but she only kept him because her brother (his previous owner) had died, but she was no very fond of the dog and told us that we could keep him. That dog is dead now but in his time alive he gave me many good memories and I will always remember him as my first ever pet. Summary: Today we read a page about native american creation myths. We annotated the text and highlighted parts that we thought were important. Reflection: I learned that native ...

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt Response: When I was younger I was in boy scouts. While I was in boy scouts we often went camping, during these camping trips we would usually do something in nature like hiking. One time we were on a hike and we were doing a requirement for a badge that asked us to find and identify different kinds of leaves while on a hike. I felt very connected to nature during this hike because I was looking for things that I would usually just walk right past but this time I was able to study and appreciate the world around me more. Summary: Today we took notes on native American literature involving myths and legends. Reflection: I learned that native Americans record most of their myths through word of mouth and not writing.
