Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

 Prompt Response:

Right now in my life I think that success for me is through both progress in athletics, grades, and happiness. I really like getting better at my sport and getting stronger and I also like getting good grades but I think what I value most out of these is happiness. I think it is very important to realize that a happy mindset is really all you need to have lived a good life because if you are truly happy you likely have little regret.

Summary:

Today we read chapters 9 and 10 and then answered questions on research topics and then made connections between the chapters and things outside of the book.

Reflection:

I learned a lot about things connecting to the book that were not actually mentioned in it.
