Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response:

I think that using metaphors was the more difficult topic that we did. I found metaphors more difficult because you have to directly say that something is something. I find this more difficult because if it is done incorrectly it ends up not making sense. By doing research on examples of metaphors, I was able to make mine good.

Summary:

Today we made posters with our reflective similes and metaphors, in the posters we added images to represent the literary devices and made explanations of their meanings.

Reflection:

I learned how to use similes and metaphors better.

In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path.
