After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt Response: I really liked the way the other students in this class designed their posters. I think that next time I can format my poster a lot better and make it a lot more understandable. Summary: Today we watched two news report videos on the subject of AI in schools and colleges. After watching the videos we answered questions on them and then we viewed our classmates digital posters. Reflection: I learned about how AI is being used and how colleges and schools are handling it. I also learned that many students are being falsely accused of using AI which I did not know was such a prevalent issue.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response: I think that using metaphors was the more difficult topic that we did. I found metaphors more difficult because you have to directly say that something is something. I find this more difficult because if it is done incorrectly it ends up not making sense. By doing research on examples of metaphors, I was able to make mine good. Summary: Today we made posters with our reflective similes and metaphors, in the posters we added images to represent the literary devices and made explanations of their meanings. Reflection: I learned how to use similes and metaphors better.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: When writing my simile's and metaphor's, I learned a lot about myself. Reflecting on the struggles and hardships I have gone through in my life gave me a feeling of clarity. I don't really take a lot of time to look back on the past in my life and I think doing so really made me feel good about myself. Summary: Today we wrote 6 simile's and 6 metaphor's about our self concerning various topics in our lives. Reflection: I learned a lot about myself by reflecting on my past.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response: Over break, I spent time up at my farm and I also spent a lot of time cooking. At the farm, I did a lot of work around the house including fixing two toilets that had been having issues. I also cooked a lot of good meals including steak, burgers, and quesadillas. Summary: Today, we read a poem from Maya Angelou and watched a video about her life. After that, we wrote down and analyzed the literary devices in the poem we read. Reflection: I learned a lot about the metaphors and similes in Maya Angelou s poem.

If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

Prompt Response: Three objects that I think sum up how I show my love are text messages, music, and food. Text messages are important because they are a virtual way of communicating, music is important to me because it often expresses ones emotions, and food is important because I really like cooking and I feel like people really appreciate it when you make them food. Summary: Today, we wrote a Valentine's day card to our parent. Reflection: I learned about valentines day and how to appreciate the people around you.

Now that you have completed the rhetorical analysis essay, reflect on your growth. Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature. Support your reflection with specific references to the writing process.

Prompt Response: I think what I improved on most with this rhetorical analysis essay was my confidence, I did learn a lot but before writing this essay I did not feel confident and like I would not know how to do it. After the essay I realized that I am capable of writing a real rhetorical analysis essay and my confidence was definitely boosted. Summary: We wrote out rhetorical analysis essay today. Reflection: I learned how to write a rhetorical analysis.

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Prompt Response: During the analyzing devices step, I learned how to really use the rhetorical devices and what they really meant. Before this step, I had a very base level knowledge of rhetorical devices and I did not completely understand what a lot of them meant, now I feel as if I am genuinely educated on the topic and I can use them effectively.  Summary: Today, we learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis, we identified rhetorical situations, and analyzed rhetorical devices. Prompt Response: The best piece of advice a parent or guardian has given to me is to never ever get anyone pregnant. I believe this is an important piece of advice because giving someone a baby is almost irreversible and if you don't want one it can cause a lot of pain and stress for both people involved. A time a group project didn't go as planned was in 8th grade when I had to make a presentation with some of my friends but we ended up goofing around too much and nobody knew what they were assigned and the project turned out bad. Summary: Today, we wrote a rhetorical analysis essay body paragraph and graded different examples of rhetorical analysis body paragraphs. Reflection: I learned how to grade a rhetorical analysis.

What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

Prompt Response:  For me, the hardest part of writing an essay is the actual writing process, I can think up what I want to tell but a lot of the time it is hard to put my thoughts into words. Summary: Today, we made our full rhetorical analysis body paragraph on writing. We wrote the paragraphs to talk about the rhetoric in Dr. Martin Luther Kings speech "I have a dream." Prompt Response: A moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story was when I wrestled someone for the first time. I had started wrestling conditioning but I had not actually wrestled anyone before and one of the wrestlers on the team invited me up to the room to wrestle. I wrestled the experienced wrestler and another new wrestler and got beat up pretty bad but it was some of the most fun I had ever had and I stuck with it and I am continuing to improve my skills.
