When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Prompt Response: When I am in a bad mood, something I usually do to reduce my stress is to take a deep breath and think of all the things that I am thankful for and that usually gets me in a better mood. Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Prompt Response: Usually when working on a project I try to build an outline before I actually begin to make it, this ensures that I am confident in what I am doing and that I actually know exactly what needs to be done. A project I recently created that I was very proud of was my poetry project in this class, I thought I did it very well and it was planned out good. Summary: Today, I made up a quiz from last Friday, after that, we did a writable assignment which used many different vocabulary words. Reflection: I learned how to use many new vocabulary words on our writable assignment.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response:A  rhetorical device I find particularly compelling would be hypophora. I find hypophora to be interesting because it is so commonly used in speeches and talks that I see and I never knew there was a name for it and it just feels good to now be able to name that part of rhetoric when someone is using it. Summary: I was not at school this day. Reflection: I was not at school this day

Prompt Response: A vocab word that resonates with me most is anecdote because it is a word I hear a lot in political debates and things like that and I have never fully known what it meant. Summary: Today we worked on our vocab lesson seven and then did exercise 3 and 4. Reflection: I learned today that anecdotes are short stories.

Prompt: Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response:   A time I didn't feel like myself was when I became very badly sick with the flu. While I had the flu I couldn't do anything I wanted to do and I felt very lazy and unproductive. Luckily the flu went away decently quickly and I was able to return to normal life. Summary: Today we listened to Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech and analyzed the rhetorical devices in it. Reflection:   I learned about the rhetoric used by Martin Luther King.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response: A place I feel at peace with is my farm. Every time I go up to the farm it is a time to unwind and escape the stress of school and sports and everything. It is very rural up at the farm and I usually only interact with my family which is also really nice. Summary: Today we learned about rhetorical devices like similes, metaphors, and analogies. Reflection: I learned how to make my own analogy.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response: A time I had to rely on someone else was when I needed help working on my science fair project in 8th grade. I had chose a topic I didn't know much about and so I relied on my grandmothers knowledge of it to do the project. Summary: Today we learned about new rhetorical devices, we did example questions based on these devices. Reflection: I learned that similes are not always just statements using like or as.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response: Some life skills I have learned in high school are to be disciplined and do things on time, this will help me greatly with work in the future by getting me used to due dates. Summary: Today we learned about types of rhetoric. We then analyzed a speech from President Trump, looking at what kind of rhetoric he used in it. Reflection: I learned about different examples of rhetoric.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response: A time I took a hiatus from something important was right before the wrestling season started when I didn't wrestle for almost a month. I took this break from wrestling to recover from a shoulder injury I had had for a long time before it but it had been getting worse and the doctor told me to not wrestle for a while to recover it. The break made me feel sort of lazy because I wasn't wrestling and I wasn't working hard regularly, luckily the break was only for a month and once the season started I was able to get back into the swing of things. Summary: Today, we worked in our rhetoric notebooks, learning how to use antithesis, hypophoria, and rhetorical questions. Reflection: I learned how to use different rhetorical devices in literature.

Prompt Response: We did a lot of fun things today, it certainly was not boring. Summary: Today we learned about what litotes, hyperbole's, and understatements were, we did example problems with them and shared our answers with the class. Reflection: Today I learned how to use hyperbole's, understatements, and litotes.

Prompt Response: Over break, I spent the first week up at my farm in North Georgia, here, I spent a lot of time with family, relaxing and celebrating Christmas. Over break, my family got a new dog, a Newfoundland named Willow, she is 120 lbs and is the largest dog we have ever owned. The second week of my break I spent down here in Atlanta, a lot of my time was spent cooking seeing as my mom was at work the majority of the time so I had the house mostly to myself, during this time I also went to wrestling practices, I cooked steak, made burgers, and I also meal prepped some amazing chicken, rice, and Pico bowls. Summary: Today we wrote down four goals we have for the year in writable. Reflection: Today, I learned a little bit about what my goals were for the coming year.
