Something that changed the way I thought about a person was when I discovered that my aunt's ex-husband had actually disliked our entire family when they were married. When I was young, I had always liked my former uncle but he had never really spent much time around the family. When I grew older I discovered that my former uncle had always disliked the family and it really surprised me and made me think less of him.
